What are you doing to recruit parents?
According to the 2019 Parents’ Role in College Planning Report’ by Ruffalo Noel Levitz (RNL) only 50% of parents reported that they received communications from colleges directed at them.
Therefore, if more than 50% of colleges have an answer for “What are you doing to recruit parents?”, only 50% of parents are aware of it.
If you have implemented strategies to recruit parents you need to evaluate whether your attempts are working. If you haven’t started, there is no time like the present!
To highlight just how important it is to recruit parents, we have highlighted some of the big takeaways from the 2019 RNL Report that should impact your recruitment strategy today:
96% of parents believe college is the most important thing their child should do after high school.
98% of parents are dedicated to making sure that their child goes to college.
72% of parents have no doubt that a college education is worth the time, money, and effort.
When you recruit parents you are recruiting an audience that is primed to say yes to you! Parents are highly aware of the benefits of college and fully believe in its value.
Even though three out of four parents reported to be “very involved” in their children’s college search process...
1 out of 4 “very involved” parents reported that they didn’t receive communications dedicated to them.
How likely is it for a “very involved” parent to be unaware of meaningful attempts to engage with them?
If most parents are very involved with their children’s college search process, and they understand the value of a college degree, you need to communicate with them and make sure they are aware of it.
When you win the parents; you’ll win the student.
Next week we will share 3 strategies you can implement immediately to start effectively recruiting parents and increasing your enrollment.
